Auar Foundation for Justice and Development strongly condemns the shelling of residential neighborhoods in the city of Taiz by Houthi militias. According to preliminary reports, the attack resulted in the killing of four civilians and the injury of eleven others, including three children, in an assault that threatens the lives and safety of civilians
The Foundation affirms that shelling residential neighborhoods and endangering civilians constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which requires the protection of civilians and civilian objects and their safeguarding from the horrors of armed conflict
While expressing its solidarity with the victims and their families, the Foundation calls on the United Nations and international and human rights organizations to condemn these violations, work to monitor, document, and verify them, and ensure accountability and that those responsible are not allowed to escape punishment
Auar Foundation for Justice and Development stresses that civilian lives must never become a battleground and that protecting civilians is a legal and humanitarian responsibility that admits no negligence or compromise.
